Contemporary extensions to heritage homes are often guided by similar parameters as well as following and leaning on historical architectural details. With the Ashland Residence, Hsu McCullough bent the rules to create a House Mullet: a full alteration to an existing 1906 unreinforced masonry home in the front with a two-story modern extension in the back. Refreshingly offbeat and rich in natural material maximalism. As seen on the Dwell on Design 2018 home tours and featured on Pendulummag.com
